OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is taking steps to unlock the full potential of its AI technology for advertisers. The company is introducing new measurement updates to help advertisers better assess the performance of their campaigns, while the semiconductor sector is expected to show significant upside in the third quarter.

In an effort to provide advertisers with more visibility into the performance of their campaigns, OpenAI is expanding its in-house tools and partner integrations to connect ChatGPT campaigns to outcomes. This will allow advertisers to use tools they already rely on to assess web and app outcomes, such as results beyond the last click. By providing more transparency into the effectiveness of ChatGPT campaigns, OpenAI aims to gain greater confidence from advertisers and unlock bigger ad budgets.

Meanwhile, the semiconductor sector is poised for a strong performance in the third quarter. According to Schneider, most estimates suggest upside for SemiCap/Compute/Storage, with a more favorable risk/reward setup. The sector has seen a significant pullback in recent months, driven by de-risking, but going into earnings, the trading setup is more constructive. Schneider expects significant positive estimate revisions for SemiCap companies due to pull-ins to WFE spending, as well as long-term visibility into 2028. In compute, the firm is bullish on both server CPUs and key ASIC programs, while preferring stocks with the greatest industrial, aero/defense, and datacenter exposures. Finally, the memory/storage complex is expected to see fundamental upside, with a preference for HDDs and NAND due to a lack of near-term supply additions.

Tactical ideas for investors include:

* Upside for SemiCap companies due to pull-ins to WFE spending and long-term visibility into 2028
* Positive estimate revisions for SemiCap companies
* Upside for server CPUs and key ASIC programs in compute
* Preference for stocks with the greatest industrial, aero/defense, and datacenter exposures
* Fundamental upside for the memory/storage complex, with a preference for HDDs and NAND due to a lack of near-term supply additions.

Overall, the third quarter is shaping up to be a promising time for both ChatGPT and the semiconductor sector, with potential upside for advertisers and investors alike.
