The latest earnings reports from Caesars Entertainment, Chili’s, and Cracker Barrel have provided a mixed bag of results. While some companies exceeded expectations, others fell short. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at each company’s performance and what it means for investors.

Caesars Entertainment (CZR)

Caesars reported EBITDA misses in Las Vegas and Digital, partly offset by Regional. Adjusted EBITDA came in at $865M, below both the consensus estimate of $904M and the company’s own guidance. The Las Vegas weakness had been well flagged in recent weeks, and the company reported an adjusted EBITDA of $343M, a ~9% YoY decline. Regional, on the other hand, grew ~4% YoY to $524M. Revenue came in at $2.94B, a +2.5% YoY increase, and digital Adjusted EBITDA was $44M, up from $28M last year. However, the company did not provide guidance due to the pending acquisition.

Chili’s (EAT)

Chili’s reported 1Q EPS of $2.77 vs Consensus $2.45 and EBITDA beat of 7%. Comp sales were solid, coming in at +9.1% vs Consensus +7.5%. Restaurant margins expanded by 100 bps. In response, the company raised its FY EPS guide to $13.30-$13.90 vs prior $12.60-$13.40 and revenues were also raised.

Cracker Barrel (CBRL)

Cracker Barrel reported 1Q EPS of $1.02 vs Consensus $0.96 for 3Q. While not all restaurants are expected to beat in 3Q, Cracker Barrel was one that was expected to be good. The question will just be “how much was it expected and priced.” Revenue came in at $767M, a +2.5% YoY increase.
